Reebok reintroduces coveted Kamikaze II OG model

Reebok is officially reintroducing one of its most historically disruptive heritage on-court models, Kamikaze II OG, championed in 1995 by legendary dunker Shawn Kemp. 25 years after its original release, Kamikaze II OG ($120) is available globally beginning October 23 from its website, Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and DTLR, among other specialty retailers.

Reebok first released the Kamikaze II during the fourth quarter of ‘95 as the updated version of Shawn Kemp’s iconic signature shoe, the Kamikaze. Designed to match the unprecedented on-court energy of Kemp, otherwise known as “Reign Man”, Kamikaze II was built atop first-of-its kind Hexalite cushioning that enabled superior lightweight bounce, while its mid-cut design and full-grain leather upper aided in support and brought together a unique and stylish black/green/white color palette nodding Kemp’s first pro uniforms.

A product of Reebok’s ‘90s Mobius collection that united a range of styles under a common thematic geared toward pushing the boundaries of footwear design through visually disruptive colorways and eye-catching sidewall patterns, the silhouette spoke loudly among the brand’s many hard-to-miss basketball sneakers of the era.

Reenergised 25 years later – with specs true to the original model, Kamikaze II OG will find its home courtside in sport-style wardrobes for both longtime Reebok basketball fans and sport-inspired kids looking to block out the noise and create their own path.

This past  June, Reebok tipped off Kamikaze II’s 25th Anniversary festivities alongside sport-style icon and sixth-man-of-the-year Montrezl Harrell. In September, during his team’s 2020 playoff run, ‘Trezz’ reintroduced the OG model to the hardwood.

Looking to the future, as Reebok continues to grow alongside the ever-evolving tapestry of global cultures in which it is so deeply rooted, the brand will formally rename the historic Kamikaze model. An official update regarding the name change will be provided in the coming weeks.
